Cutting machines
The main focus of schoen + sandt is to produce and sell cutting machines for flat parts from different non-metallic materials, e.g. textiles, leather, cardboard, plastic, carpet etc. excepting e.g. aluminium foil up to 0,5 mm thickness for the production of heat shields for catalysers.
Contrary to other cutting methods e.g. Laser Cutting, Water Jet Cutting or Cutters with oscillating dies, our Cutting Machines requires a Cutting Die with complete contour of the cut part.
Advantages of this cutting method is the complete and repeat accuracy cutting of a part in a reproducible work step. This means, that the accuracy of the cut parts are defined by the cutting die and will not be influenced by external causes. This technology constitutes the main difference between cutting machines and cutting presses, although the construction seems to be similar at first view. Presses will be used for the production of moulded parts by using stable tools. Therefore a defined cutting pressure is required and must be adjustable. The requirement for cutting machines is the precise attainment of the position for cutting of the materials. The exact positioning increases significantly the life time of the cutting tools. The cutting tools, used for cutting machines, are built easily and inexpensively and requires a much more stable machine design, on the other hand, however, also allows a fixed predetermined sequence control of hydraulic unit. This allows an easy operation of machine and requires no special knowledge of the operators.
Especially in middle and higher production volumes, the costs incurred in a cutting machine by cutting tools and cutting plates are lower than comparable cutting technologies.
This requires a solid machine construction and highest precision of machine in low point position.
To reach a precise, reproducible and adjustable low point position two different methods will be used. For small machines with a cutting force < 500 kN a switch-off by an electronic encoder will be preferred, this is not sufficient for higher cutting force and cutting areas. Therefore a switch-off by mechanical low point stops with contact switch is more recommended, whereby four plane-parallel arranged stops are installed on the edge points of machine, which will be adjusted automatically according to the tools height.
